Thief of Time Things – Alphabetic

Most of the important things in Thief of Time are relatively strange. You’ll be forgiven if you don’t understand everything in this alphabetical list of them without reading the book first. See the chronological list here.

Almanac de Gothick – Uberwald version of Twurp’s Peerage.

Almanack and Booke of Dayes – Found in Granny Weatherwax’s privy. She may have read it.

Ankh-Morpork Times, The – Newspaper started by William de Worde.

Book of Om, The – Owned by Constable Visit. Five inches thick.

Books of History – Written by Wen the Eternally Surprised.

Clong-clong – Serrated weapon found in the Tenth Djim of Oi Dong.

Convocation of Ee – Struck “Om Is in His Holy Temple” from the songbook as being incompatible with the ideals of modern Omnianism. Mightily Oats liked it anyway.

Device of Erratic Balls – Lu-Tze intended to show it to Lobsang while at Oi Dong.

First Scroll of Wen the Eternally Surprised – “In the cup of the hand there is no past, no future. There is only now.” It’s actually surprisingly hard to argue with that.

Fish Tail Escapement – The idea for its creation came to Wilframe Balderton after eating too much lobster.

Glass Clock – When finished, it shatters time. Some (like the Auditors) might think that’s not a bad idea.

Grim Fairy Tales – Includes the tale of the Glass Clock.

Hershebean Lawyer Beetle – Has a very consistent daily routine. Jeremy / Lobsang owned one.

Invar – Worth more than its weight in gold. Lady LeJean offered to provide some to Jeremy. (Invar is actually a thing in the roundworld too.)

Life of Wen the Eternally Surprised, The – “The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.” Surprised?

Mandala, The – Watched by the History Monks of Oi Dong because its colored sands show reality and dictate to them what to do.

Procrastinator – Invented by Wen the Eternally Surprised from the trunk of a wamwam tree. Used to store and move time on an as-needed basis.

Prophecies of Tobrun – Apparently part of the Book of Om. Has not been considered official church dogma for a hundred years.

Second Scroll of Wen the Eternally Surprised – Describes Wen’s creation and testing of the first Procrastinator.

Secret Scroll of Wen – A love poem about Time. It was a good one.

Soul Cake Eggs – Made of chocolate.

Turnball Mk3 Micro-lathe – The fancy kind. Jeremy owned one.

Twurp’s Peerage – A proper book that Magrat was fed up with the type of. Vimes considered it the guide to the criminal classes.

Uppsi – See clong-clong.

Wheelbright’s Gravity Escapement – Made as much sense as Jeremy’s dream of the Glass Clock.

Woman Holding Ferret – By Leonard of Quirm. Used as the basis for the creation of Lady LeJean, minus the flaws.
