Thief of Time Places – Alphabetic

Finding your way through time isn’t always as easy as finding your way to a place. So, here is your list of the places in Thief of Time in ABC order – to make things a little easier to find. The chronological list is here.

Acid Bath and Restraint Co. – In Ugli. Where Dribbling Doctor Vibes got his wall calendar from.

Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.

Ar-Gash – Blitz painted a picture of the battle that was fought there.

Bad Schüschein – Where the first Glass Clock was built. (Simply called Schüschein in The Truth.)

Bakers’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Bakers’ Guild. Located on Baker Street.

Bong Phut – Town in the Ramtops whose residents understand Rule One.

Borogravia – Small country, next to Uberwald, known for delicious chocolate and its god, Nuggan.

Broad Way – One of Ankh-Morpork’s busiest streets. Intersects the Street of Small Gods.

Bunch of Grapes – Easy Street. Establishment possibly frequented by Captain Vimes.

Cape Wrath – The creaking of the Procrastinators reminded one of a tea-clipper rounding this cape in a gentle breeze. Probably not one of Terry’s better metaphors.

Clockmakers’ Guild – Dr. Hopkins is secretary. (President unknown.) Members include Jeremy Clockson (Lobsang), Hepzibah Whitlow, and Wilframe Balderton.

Confectioners’ Guild – How sweet it is! (Or should be.)

Copperhead Mountain – Major peak in Lancre.

Counterweight Continent – A land mass made largely of octiron so as to counter-balance the larger land mass on which Ankh-Morpork exists.

Discworld – First mentioned in Equal Rites, this is the place where it all hits the…er…takes place.

Dysk, The – Where the traveling players eventually ended up in Ankh-Morpork. The Discworld equivalent of the Globe.

Ephebe – Located across the Djel (or Djelibeybi, if you prefer) from Tsort. Home of philosophers.

Esoteric St. – Location of the Frout Academy and several upscale gentlemen’s clubs including Fidgett’s.

Fidgett’s – A gentlemen’s club in Esoteric Street. Susan was unnoticed there.

Frout Academy for Inquiring Minds – Created by Madame Frout. Susan Sto Helit taught there.

Garden of Five Surprises – Maintained by Lu-Tze in Oi Dong.

Garden of Four Elements – Lobsang deduced that the fourth element was Surprise, not Fire. (There were actually five.)

Genua – Main setting of Witches Abroad. Sounds like Genoa. Feels like New Orleans.

Guild of Merchants (and Traders) – Possibly fictitious location for possibly fictitious members (originally) created by Rerpf. Later became a valid establishment in Ankh-Morpork.

Guild of Thieves, Cutpurses, Housebreakers and Allied Trades – An organization, first encountered in Equal Rites, perhaps known later as simply the Guild of Thieves or Thieves’ Guild.

Higgs & Meakins – They did good chocolates.

Historians’ Guild – Located at the corner of Easy Street and Treacle Mine Road. The president is Mr Betteridge.

Kings Way / Kingsway – Street in Ankh where the d’Eath family lived.

Klatch – Land of deserts and some jungles. Also the source of the phrase, “Pardon my Klatchian.” The country of Klatch is on the continent of Klatch.

Koom Valley – Location of an historic battle between dwarves and trolls.

Lancre – A small kingdom in the Ramtops. Home of Nanny Ogg and several other witches and wizards.

Llamedos – Pllace from which Imp y Celyn hailed. (Nasty when read backwards.)

Long Nap – See Bong Phut.

Lost City of Ee – Once sought in Al Khali by Cohen the Barbarian. Found by Abraxas and Truckle. May be related to the Forbidden City of Ee.

Mandala Hall – In Oi Dong. Contains colored sand that highlights anomalies in the fabric of time.

Merchant Street – In Ankh-Morpork, a street where many merchants will take your money, sometimes after giving you their wares.

Monastery of Oi Dong – Created by Wen the Eternally Surprised. Home of the History Monks.

Old Rathaus, The – Location of We R Igors in Bad Schüschein.

Omnia – A very (sorta) religious country on the coast of the continent of Klatch.

Opera House – Center of Ankh-Morpork. The (new) City Watch house sits opposite it in Pseudopolis Yard.

Procrastinator Hall – In Oi Dong. Contains devices for the backward and forward spinning of time.

Quirm College for Young Ladies – Where Susan Sto Helit was sometimes seen.

Quirm Street – In Ankh-Morpork, where Mrs Marietta Cosmopolite lives (at No. 3).

Ramtop Mountains – One of the main mountain ranges Hubward.

Room of Silence – In Oi Dong. Presumably its function is obvious.

Royal Art Museum – In Ankh-Morpork. Contains works by Caravati, Mauvaise, Cuspidor, Blitz, and many others.

Sator Square – The area just outside Unseen University often occupied by many merchants.

Songset – Had caves where Lu-Tze and Lobsang could rest.

Stone Room – In the Monastery of Oi Dong. Used to teach Temporal Theory.

Street of Cunning Artificers, The – Ankh-Morpork. Contains just what you think. Only moreso.

Überwald – Home to many werewolf, vampires, Igors, and other races. Homeland of Angua and Cheery.

Ugg – See Uh.

Ugli – Located in Uberwald along the River Blintz.

Uh – Potentially a real old place made of heaps of mud bricks.

Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.

Ur Kingdom – Apparently the land of Khuft who had The First pyramid constructed.

Vieux River – Old (Masculine) River. Literally.

Weinrich and Boettcher – In Zephire Street. Get your expensive chocolates there.

XXXX (Fourecks) – Fabled hidden continent, mate. Terror Incognita. EcksEcksEcksEcks.

Zephire Street – Where to go if you love chocolate but not money.

Zok – Famine once threw a minstrel out of a hotel window there.
