This list contains the same persons as the chronological list of the persons in The Colour of Magic. It’s just that they’re in, well, alphabetical order instead.
Alohura – Goddess of Lightning.
Arch-astronomer of Krull – The apparent leader of the city and island of Krull. He comes as close as anyone to killing Rincewind. That is to say, so close and yet so far away.
Archmage of Ymitury – Weasel boasts that he killed the Archmage.
Archmandrite of B’Ituni – Ruler of the impregnable palace from which Hrun stole the sword Kring.
Atavarr – Creator of the Personal Gravitational Upset spell.
Bel-Shamharoth – A many-tentacled monster in whose presence you do not say the number between seven and nine (not 7a). He is also known as the Sender of Eight.
Berilia – One of the four elephants supporting the Disc.
Black Zenell – A fabled hero of the type Twoflower wanted to see.
Blind Hugh – A beggar who is most definitely not blind.
Blind Io – Chief of the gods who live at Dunmanifestin. He appears to be blind but has many eyes outside his body.
Bravd the Hublander – An outlaw who is an associate of Weasel.
Broadman – The manager of the Broken Drum, a tavern in Ankh-Morpork.
Captain Eightpanther – The name associated with Captain Eightpanther’s Travellers’ Digestives, which are biscuits that are as hard as diamondwood.
Chance – A god who was eliminated early from the game the gods play.
Codice of Chimeria – According to Hrun, Codice killed all the dragons 200 years ago. Odd they should still be around then.
Cripple Wa – An associate of Blind Hugh. Both of them report to Ymor. Runs a floating crap game.
Death – An anthrpomorphic personification comprised of a skeleton, covered in a black robe, and holding a scythe (or a sword, for kings). He communicates in CAPTIAL LETTERS without the quotation marks.
Destiny – The god with whom Night had an appointment.
Disease – Along with Famine, a subordinate of Death.
Dr. Rjinswand – Rincewind’s name in an alternative universe much like our own. Note the similar sound.
Druellae – A dryad (female tree nymph – there are males) who briefly captures Rincewind.
Emir of the Palace of the Seven Deserts – Goldeneyes built his palace.
Erig Stronginthearm – A fabled hero of the type Twoflower wanted to see.
Famine – Associated with Death.
Fate – One of the game-playing gods in Dunmanifestin.
Fredor – Someone at the Crimson Leech to whom Bravd and Weasel had owed eight silver pieces at the time of the Ankh-Morpork fire. Apparently, they no would no longer need to repay the debt.
Garhartra – Guestmaster to Rincewind and Twoflower while guests – for a given value of guest – in Krull.
Goldeneyes Silverhand Dactylos – An extremely inventive but ultimately doomed inventor and engineer. His name says it all, though he must have acquired it later in life.
Gorphal – An advisor to the Patrician who is especially knowledgeable about the Agatean Empire.
Gorrin the Cat – Cat may imply that Gorrin is a cat burglar. He is a subordinate of Ymor.
Great A’Tuin – He or she is the turtle who moves through space in the Discworld universe. On his or her back are 4 elephants. On the backs of the elephants rests the Disc itself.
Great T’Phon – One of the four elephants supporting the Disc.
Greicha the First – Deceased (but still talking) father of Liessa, Lio!rt, and Liartes.
Grinjo – An assassin.
Heric Whiteblade – According to Twoflower, an Ankh-Morporkian character famed in song and story.
Hrun the Barbarian (of Chimeria) – According to Twoflower, another character famed in song and story. Twoflower would love to meet either Heric or Hrun or both of them.
Jack Zweiblumen – Twoflower’s name in an alternative universe much like our own. Zweiblumen is German for Twoflower.
Jerakeen – The last, or maybe the first (we’ll never know) of the four elephants supporting the Disc as they ride atop Great A’Tuin.
K!sdra – Rincewind’s ticket, so to speak, into Wyrmberg. He probably wished the ticket had a different price tag.
Kerible the Enchanter – Bravd the Hublander and his associate Weasel have a bet as to whether an explosion, closely related to the Ankh-Morpork fire, was caused by the oil bond store or by Kerible. It wasn’t Kerible.
Laolith – Liessa’s dragon.
Liartes – Another brother of Liessa and power-grabber in Wyrmberg.
Liessa Wyrmbidder (aka Liessa Dragonlady) – An almost-scantily-clad contender for top dog of Wyrmberg.
Lio!rt Dragonlord – Brother of Liessa and another contender for Wyrmberg power.
Luggage, The – A mysterious box made of sapient pearwood that ambles about on hundreds of tiny feet. It arrived in Ankh-Morpork with Twoflower.
Marchesa – A young, female wizard – one not often remembered later on when female wizardry is discussed.
Master Launchcontroller – Krullian responsible for launching the Potent Voyager properly. Good luck with that when Rincewind is around.
Night – A negligible god in the games at Dunmanifestin.
Nine Turning Mirrors – Grand Vizier of the Agatean Empire. As Vizier, he is, of course, in control of everything within the empire.
Ninereeds (the Dragon) – Twoflower’s imagined dragon.
Ninereeds the Masteraccount – Twoflower had been his apprentice. Presumably they were in chartered accountancy.
Offler – The Crocodile God who has difficulty with speech due to his fang-like teeth – not unlike the speaking problems encountered by all crocodiles.
Old High Ones – Unnamed, other than by use of this phrase, they really didn’t care for the Mage Wars and let the gods and the humans know it.
Pasha of Re’durat – A former owner of Kring, according to Kring.
Patrician of Ankh – The leader of the city of Ankh-Morpork. You know him cordially as Havelock Vetinari.
Pitchiu – Goldeneyes made the Metal Warriors that guard his tomb.
Psepha – K!sdra’s dragon.
Reforgule* of Krull – Possibly a scientist who determined that the Disc revolves it order to distribute the weight fairly upon the four elephants.
Rerpf – Vice-guildmaster in charge of tourism for the Guild of Merchants and Traders. He’s not entirely sure what tourism is.
Rincewind – A seemingly minor wizard who plays a major role in several Discworld novels. He is extremely good at running away.
Scrofula – Demon who comes for Rincewind in Death’s stead while Death is tending to a plague in Pseudopolis. Rincewind, of course, escapes him.
Sek – The Seven-Handed god of the Temple of the Seven-Handed Sek.
Sorca (people) – Built the dams in the Great Nef to store sunlight.
Stren Withel – The second greatest thief in Ankh-Morpork. I hope he tries harder. A lieutenant of Ymor.
Terton – Unfortunate lengthman of the 45th Length of the Circumfence. Unfortunate because the Luggage paid him an angry visit.
Tethis – A sea troll made of water. He fell off his home disc and eventually landed on the Discworld. Chronic tides affect his size. I wonder if he ever got home again.
The Lady – A female goddess with green eyes. She rolls a 7 using 6-sided dice.
The Loremaster – Known only by this title, he’s the master of ceremonies at the battle in Wyrmberg.
Tubul – One of the four elephants supporting the Disc.
Twoflower (aka Two Flower, by those who do not know him well) – A tourist from the Agatean Empire who arrives in Ankh-Morpork with the Luggage.
Urmond – An assassin.
Vestcake – Creator of the Floating Curse.
Weasel – An outlaw who is an associate of Bravd the Hublander.
Ymor – Apparently the greatest thief in Ankh-Morpork.
Zephyrus – A Dunmanifestin god of slight breezes.
Zlorf Flannelfoot – Current** president of the Assassins’ Guild.
