Sourcery Places – Chronological

When you want to find your way chronologically around the geography of Sourcery, this is the list you need. Either this one or this alphabetical one.

Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.

Discworld – First mentioned in Equal Rites, this is the place where it all hits the…er…takes place.

Circle Sea – The main body of water separating the continents of the Disc. Probably responsible for preventing more wars than have already been fought.

Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.

Ankh (River) – That which divides Ankh the city from Morpork. You can usually walk on the surface of the Ankh, even if you’re not a deity.

Tower of Art – The oldest and tallest building on the Disc. Part of Unseen University. Very magical. Not necessarily artful.

Broken Drum / Mended Drum – A popular tavern (for fights, etc.) in Ankh-Morpork.

Ankh Bay – Where the Ankh River ends. The Bay eventually merges into the Circle Sea.

Temple of Offler – Housed, among other things, a jeweled disembowelling knife.

Snigg’s Alley – A street in Ankh-Morpork on which there is a Klatchian pizza place that does takeaway.

Klatch – Land of deserts and some jungles. Also the source of the phrase, “Pardon my Klatchian.” The country of Klatch is on the continent of Klatch.

Shades, The – A section of Ankh-Morpork that is darker (in more ways than one) than it sounds.

Guild of Merchants (and Traders) – Possibly fictitious location for possibly fictitious members (originally) created by Rerpf. Later became a valid establishment in Ankh-Morpork.

Troll’s Head – A tavern in Ankh-Morpork whose customers aspire to become the dregs of humanity.

Al Khali – Very dry home of Seriph Creosote and his Rhoxie.

Sator Square – The area just outside Unseen University often occupied by many merchants.

Hublands – The central area of the Disc. First mentioned as such in Sourcery but hinted at earlier with the Hub, Hubwards, etc.

Counterweight Continent – A land mass made largely of octiron so as to counter-balance the larger land mass on which Ankh-Morpork exists.

Rimfall – Aka, the Rim. The edge of the Disc where the oceans’ water constantly falls off. (Possibly mentioned earlier than in Sourcery.)

Plaza of Broken Moon(s) – Open area where Rincewind used Twoflower’s iconograph. Visited by Tomjon.

Lost City of Ee – Once sought in Al Khali by Cohen the Barbarian. Found by Abraxas and Truckle. May be related to the Forbidden City of Ee.

Wizard’s Pleasaunce – An optimistic name for an area on the shores of the River Ankh near UU.

Cori Celesti – 10-mile high mountain at the Hub of the Disc. Home to the gods of Dunmanifestin. Possible translation: Heart of heaven.

Rhoxie – The palace of Seriph Creosote in Al Khali.

Tsort River – Presumably at the bottom of the Tsort Valley in the land of Tsort.

Mount Gebra – Has flocks of goats that look like Conina’s hair.

Rim Ocean – The body of water that goes all around the edge of the Discworld. It falls over the edge causing the Rimfall and sometimes the Rimbow.

Mount Eritor – Has delightful snow.

London Underground – Roundworld. A map of which is found in a Fullomyth owned by a genie in Sourcery.

Krull – An island nation that leans out over the Rim of the Disc.

Carrick / Carrack Mtns – Near the Sto Plains which contain Ankh-Morpork. Site of a “faytal fall” that Mort had to deal with.

Dungeon Dimensions – Where all the demons (and much worse) live.
