Snuff Places – Chronologic

Follow Vimes and company chronologically around the places mentioned in Snuff. Follow them in alphabetical order here if you please.

Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.

Quirm – A city near Ankh-Morpork, not to be confused with Chirm. Probably.

Pseudopolis Yard – Ankh-Morpork, not Pseudopolis. A circular street located at the city’s center. The Opera House and City Watch are on it.

Scoone Avenue – Ankh-Morpork. Location of the Ramkin estate.

Crundells – Aka Ramkin Hall. Country estate of the Ramkin family.

Oblong Office – The main room of the Patrician in the Palace. Definitely not the same as the Oval Office.

Quire River – Meanders from the Ramtops to Quirm to the sea. Known as Old Treachery and for its Dam Slams.

Ankh (River) – That which divides Ankh the city from Morpork. You can usually walk on the surface of the Ankh, even if you’re not a deity.

Ham-on-Rye – Between Quirm and Ankh-Morpork. A pretty good day’s walk from the Chalk.

Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.

Hangman’s Hill – Near Crundells where murdered goblins were discovered.

Shires, The – Location of Crundells, surrounded by Ankh-Morpork, Quirm, Sto Lat, and Pseudopolis.

Home Farm – Residence of the Aching family in the Chalk.

All Saints and Three Sinners – Back in the Year of the Stoat, the Rev. Joseph “Causality” Robinson was its rector in Lower Overhang.

Lower Overhang – One time location of All Saints and Three Sinner. Unknown if it (the organization or the town) still exists.

Goblin’s Head / Commander’s Arms – Pub near Crundells run by Jiminy.

St. Onan’s Theological College – Located near Ham-on-Rye.

Quirm College for Young Ladies – Where Susan Sto Helit was sometimes seen.

Apple Tree Cottage – Residence of Miss Beedle near Crundells.

Lady Sibyl Free Hospital – Where Dr. Lawn works. Has the unusual reputation of aiming to get people well.

Old Cobblers – Street from whence the Nobbs clan hails.

Pseudopolis – A major city on the Disc. In The Colour of Magic, Death is headed there because of the white plague striking the city. Home of Eric.

Überwald – Home to many werewolf, vampires, Igors, and other races. Homeland of Angua and Cheery.

Dead Man’s Copse – Appropriately atop Hangman’s Hill.

Unseen University Press – Precise location unknown – perhaps even to those who work there.

Cockbill Street – Where Sam Vimes grew up. Poorest part of Ankh-Morpork.

Tanty, The – Ankh-Morpork’s main prison.

Cemetery of Small Gods – Behind the Temple of Small Gods in Ankh-Morpork. Maintained by Legitimate First. Interred (for now) include John Keel and other watchmen who perished in the Glorious Revolution. Reg Shoe is a former resident.

Bhangbhangduc – Island that is part of the Agatean Empire.

Watch Training School – Across the alley from the main Watch House. Formerly a lemonade factory. Fred Colon was given an office there.

Dave’s Stamp and Pin Exchange – Dolly Sisters, between a house of negotiable affection and a massage parlor.

Koom Valley – Location of an historic battle between dwarves and trolls.

Overhang – Colonel Edgehill may have had a residence there.

Cheapside – Location of the Watch barracks in Captain Tilden’s day.

Rhyme Street – Meets Cheapside where Gumption’s Tobacco Emporium sits on one of the corners.

Gumption’s Tobacco Emporium – Owned by Bewilderforce Gumption. Located at Cheapside and Rhyme.

Howondaland – A place of steaming forests where Hrun the Barbarian has done some of his best work.

Dame School – Run by Miss Slightly in Cockbill Street.

Hangnail Manor – The Rust family bought it from the Marquis of Fantailler after the former owner murdered his wife in the pineapple house.

XXXX (Fourecks) – Fabled hidden continent, mate. Terror Incognita. EcksEcksEcksEcks.

Copperhead Mountain – Major peak in Lancre.

Dolly Sisters – Neighborhood now absorbed by Ankh-Morpork. Has a Watch House.

Watch House (Dolly Sisters) – Referred to in Feet of Clay, The Truth, and more. May have been torched in the Glorious Revolution.

Shades, The – A section of Ankh-Morpork that is darker (in more ways than one) than it sounds.

Hen and Chickens Court – Presumably near (or the same as?) Hen and Chickens Field. Moist von Lipwig had a trunk stored there with (I) Don’t Know Jack.

Hangnails – County seat of the Shires. Location of Hangnail Manor.

Dog and Badger – Located in the Shires. Sounds like a pub. Run by Dave.

Lancre – A small kingdom in the Ramtops. Home of Nanny Ogg and several other witches and wizards.

Snuff Mill – Regret of the Falling Leaf bargained with Angua for some of its products.

Horrids – Upscale department store in Ankh-Morpork that has “exclusive things for exclusive people.” Located on Broad Way.

Broad Way – One of Ankh-Morpork’s busiest streets. Intersects the Street of Small Gods.

Twister Boote’s Bottle Shop – In the Shades. Has a two-for-one deal on Special Reserve Cognac, if you are brave.

Klatch – Land of deserts and some jungles. Also the source of the phrase, “Pardon my Klatchian.” The country of Klatch is on the continent of Klatch.

Sto Plains – Area in which the cities of Sto Lat, Sto Helit, and Ankh-Morpork are located.

Fender’s Bend – A twist in the Quire.

Burleigh and Stronginthearm’s – Crossbow makers to the nobility. That pretty much says it all.

Assassins’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Assassins’ Guild in Ankh-Morpork. Best not to know its exact location.

Piper’s Holding – Settlement on the Quire.

Johnson’s Neck – Either a short stretch of the Quire or a settlement on her banks.

Baker’s Knob – Settlement on the Quire.

Jackson’s Light – Probably a lighthouse on the Quire near Quirm.

Quirm Zoo – Has elephants and other animals who produce poo, to the delight of Sam Vimes, Jr.

Rue de Wakening – (Read that again.) Street in Quirm.

Watch House (Quirm) – Had good food but used too much avec.

Lobbin Clout – Hosts a street market on Octedays. Also known for its Pin Market.

Waterside – A constabulary led by Feeney Upshot.

Opera House – Center of Ankh-Morpork. The (new) City Watch house sits opposite it in Pseudopolis Yard.

NoThingfjord – From whence the dwarf Mad’s family blew in to Fourecks when he was a kid.

Pellicool Steps – One of the areas the dwarfs tunneled under looking for the cube.

Gordon Bonnets – At 16 Old Cobblers. A millinery run by Fleur Gordon.
