Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.
Halls of Elven Perfume and Rouge Co. – Owned by Grabpot Thundergust. Also referred to as his Cosmetic Factory.
Patrician’s Palace – Ankh-Morpork. Theoretically the most important building in the city.
Assassins’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Assassins’ Guild in Ankh-Morpork. Best not to know its exact location.
Ramtop Mountains – One of the main mountain ranges Hubward.
Copperhead Mountain – Major peak in Lancre.
Discworld – First mentioned in Equal Rites, this is the place where it all hits the…er…takes place.
Guild of Thieves, Cutpurses, Housebreakers and Allied Trades – An organization, first encountered in Equal Rites, perhaps known later as simply the Guild of Thieves or Thieves’ Guild.
Quirm – A city near Ankh-Morpork, not to be confused with Chirm. Probably.
Guild of Merchants (and Traders) – Possibly fictitious location for possibly fictitious members (originally) created by Rerpf. Later became a valid establishment in Ankh-Morpork.
Ankh (River) – That which divides Ankh the city from Morpork. You can usually walk on the surface of the Ankh, even if you’re not a deity.
Watch House (Pseudopolis Yard) – Location of Captain / Commander Vimes’ crew.
Hub Gate – An Ankh-Morporkian gate closest to the Hub; that is, the center of the Disc.
Broad Way – One of Ankh-Morpork’s busiest streets. Intersects the Street of Small Gods.
Zephire Street – Where to go if you love chocolate but not money.
Shirt Alley – Really can’t get from here to Broad Way unless you’re a dog.
Mormius Street – Part of a maze of pathways that gets you from Broad Way to Zephire and back.
Borborygmic Lane – Connects Mormius Street to Whilcom Alley. Now you know.
Whilom Alley – A piece of the puzzle connecting Broad Way and Zephire. Very significant, that.
Morphic Street – Location of the Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons.
Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons, The – Established by Lady Ramkin, it’s a hospital for swamp dragons.
Easy Street – Ankh-Morpork. Location of the Bunch of Grapes and other pubs.
Acre Alley – Vimes’ boots recognized the place.
Dunmanifestin – The home of the major gods, those with too many followers to be included in the Temple of Small Gods. Located atop Cori Celesti at the Hub of the Disc.
Short Street – One of the longest streets in Ankh-Morpork.
Three Lamps Alley – Connects the Street of Bookkeepers to Short Street.
Quarry Lane – Heavily populated by trolls.
Pseudopolis Yard – Ankh-Morpork, not Pseudopolis. A circular street located at the city’s center. The Opera House and City Watch are on it.
Filigree Street – Forms a T with Short Street at the latter’s turnwise end. The Broken / Mended Drum is located at this intersection.
Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.
Dungeon Dimensions – Where all the demons (and much worse) live.
Brass Bridge – One of several bridges in Ankh-Morpork. Probably made mostly of brass or something that looks like it.
Butts Treat – Location of archery practice targets.
Sator Square – The area just outside Unseen University often occupied by many merchants.
Fools’ Guild – Formally known as the Guild of Fools and Joculators. No fooling.
Street of Alchemists – In Ankh-Morpork, where the alchemists live and work, except after an explosion.
Post Office – On Broad Way, opposite the Patrician’s Palace, Ankh-Morpork.
Oblong Office – The main room of the Patrician in the Palace. Definitely not the same as the Oval Office.
Quirm Manor – Landscaped, so to speak, by Bloody Stupid Johnson.
Teachers’ Guild – Building housing the members of the Teachers’ Guild. Headed by Master Greetling.
Temple of Small Gods – Where many gods with few believers take up residence. Not the gods atop Cori Celesti.
Temple of Fate – Has a black bell.
Gleam Street – Location of The Bucket pub.
Rime Street – Cross street to Frost Alley. Cool place.
Treacle Street – Usually location of the meeting place of the Brethren of Ee, except when there’s a mixup with the fretwork club.
Bucket, The – Owned by Mr Cheese, on Gleam Street.
Shades, The – A section of Ankh-Morpork that is darker (in more ways than one) than it sounds.
Scoone Avenue – Ankh-Morpork. Location of the Ramkin estate.
Elm Street – Ankh-Morpork. Has a mortuary.
Cable Street – Ankh-Morpork. A dwarf runs a deli there.
Sheer Street – A fortune teller had his crystal ball stolen there.
Harga’s House of Ribs – An eatery down by the docks in Ankh-Morpork. Death once occupied its kitchen.
Dog Guild – Led by Big Fido until the poodle’s death.
Prouts (Street) – Nothing significant on this street.
Whirligig Alley – Location of the Dwarf Bread Museum.
Gamblers’ Guild – Located opposite the Alchemists’ Guild house. Think about it.
Gimlet’s Hole Food Delicatessen – Located in Cable Street.
Knuckle Passage – Near the Watch House and Zorgo’s.
Zorgo the Retrophrenologist’s – The back steps lead to Knuckle Passage.
Pugnant’s – Vimes noted the roof was empty.
Lancre – A small kingdom in the Ramtops. Home of Nanny Ogg and several other witches and wizards.
Howondaland – A place of steaming forests where Hrun the Barbarian has done some of his best work.
Holofernes Street – Came up in conversation between Vimes and Cornice-overloooking-Broadway.
Beggars’ Guild – Building in Ankh-Morpork where the Beggars’ Guild has its headquarters.
Phedre Road – Has tanneries, brick kilns, and timber yards.
God Street – Intersects with Blood Alley. Curry Gardens sits on one of the corners of said intersection.
Whalebone Lane – With Treacle Mine Road and Cable Street, inhabited by many dwarves.
Grope Alley – Tunnel-like due to the construction of buildings along its length.
Morpork Road – Location of the pork futures warehouse.
Butchers’ Guild – Led by Gerhardt Sock.
Three Jolly Luck Take-Away Fish Bar – Built on the site of the old temple in Dagon Street on the night of the Winter Solstice which also featured a full moon. Yeah, that place.
Dagon Street – Location of Mr Hong’s Three Jolly Luck Fish Bar.
Koom Valley – Location of an historic battle between dwarves and trolls.
Fat Sally’s – A Klatchian coffee shop in Squeezebelly Alley.
Squeezebelly Alley – Location of Fat Sally’s coffee shop.
Mincing Street – Where Skully Maltoon used to live in Ankh-Morpork. Also where widow Gaskin lives.
Wixon’s Alley – Location of a candlemaker’s shop over which was a little room that served as Captain Vimes’ home, when he wasn’t at work. So, virtually never. Also where widow Maroon lives.
Lobsneaks – Where Annabel Curry lives.
Spiteful Sisters of Seven-Handed Sek Charity School – Where Annabel Curry attends.
Via Cloaca – Ancient way located under the current Ankh-Morpork.
Kings Way / Kingsway – Street in Ankh where the d’Eath family lived.
Dolly Sisters – Neighborhood now absorbed by Ankh-Morpork. Has a Watch House.
Chalky the Troll’s All-Night Pottery – Once smashed by dwarves.
Armory – Ankh-Morpork’s store of confiscated (etc.) weapons.
Pseudopolis – A major city on the Disc. In The Colour of Magic, Death is headed there because of the white plague striking the city. Home of Eric.
Slice Mountain – Where Bauxite the troll hails from.
Sweetheart Lane – The Shades, Ankh-Morpork. Not likely on your way home.
Civilian Street – May not be an actual street. Detritus says he was trained for a job there.
Tower of Art – The oldest and tallest building on the Disc. Part of Unseen University. Very magical. Not necessarily artful.
Colossus of Morpork – Constructed by Bloody Stupid Johnson.*
Whore Pits – Likely just what they sound like. In Ankh-Morpork.
Guild of Seamstresses – Ladies of negotiable affection.
Corksock’s Natty Clothing Co. – Has a wooden dummy that was recruited by Detritus.
Peach Pie Street – Middle of three roads separating UU from the Palace.
Treacle Mine Road – Ankh-Morpork. Just off Elm Street.
Bakers’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Bakers’ Guild. Located on Baker Street.
River Gate – Ankh-Morporkian gate that opens near the river Ankh.
Deosil Gate – One of several gates into the city of Ankh-Morpork. One of the first to collapse in a (recent) city-wide fire.
*Along with the Quirm Memorial and Hanging Gardens of Ankh (see Things in Men at Arms). I couldn’t decide whether to include these 3 items in Places or Things, so I put 1 here and 2 there.
