Making Money Places – Alphabetic

There are a few handfuls of new places in Making Money which I list here alphabetically. If you prefer the same chronologically, check out this place.

Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.

Apsly’s Commercial Bank – In Sto Lat. Has clerks trained by Mr. Bent.

Armorers’ Guild – The president is Mr Burleigh of Burleigh and Stronginthearm.

Assassins’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Assassins’ Guild in Ankh-Morpork. Best not to know its exact location.

Beggars’ Guild – Building in Ankh-Morpork where the Beggars’ Guild has its headquarters.

Bhangbhangduc – Island that is part of the Agatean Empire.

Big Cabbage – The Green Heart of the Plains. Home of BrassicaWorld where you can meet Captain Cabbage, Cauliflower the Clown, and Billy Broccoli…if you dare. There’s much more, but I won’t spoil the fun.

Boffo Novelty & Joke Shop, The – In Tenth Egg Street, Ankh-Morpork. Patronized by Miss Treason…a lot.

Bolters – In the Maul. Likely place that Vetinari bought his black skullcaps.

BrassicaWorld – In Big Cabbage. Presumably similar to Disney or Wally.

Broad Way – One of Ankh-Morpork’s busiest streets. Intersects the Street of Small Gods.

Butcher’s Eagle – Houses the usual smells of a pub, plus those of the slaughterhouse district. Thus, good for misdirecting snooping noses.

Cabbage Research Institute – In Big Cabbage, of course.

Cemetery of Small Gods – Behind the Temple of Small Gods in Ankh-Morpork. Maintained by Legitimate First. Interred (for now) include John Keel and other watchmen who perished in the Glorious Revolution. Reg Shoe is a former resident.

Chimeria – Land to which Rincewind considered fleeing so he could avoid the Patrician. Silly Rincewind!

Chitterling Street – Likely the same as Chittling Street. If so, it’s near the Shades and has a Watch House where Buggy Swires was stationed.

Chitterling Street Station – Likely the same as Chittling Street Station.

Cunning Artificers’ Guild – Some of its members helped Leonard of Quirm to craft the Kite.

Dave’s Stamp and Pin Exchange – Dolly Sisters, between a house of negotiable affection and a massage parlor.

Dolly Sisters – Neighborhood now absorbed by Ankh-Morpork. Has a Watch House.

Elm Street – Ankh-Morpork. Has a mortuary.

Fools’ Guild – Formally known as the Guild of Fools and Joculators. No fooling.

Genua – Main setting of Witches Abroad. Sounds like Genoa. Feels like New Orleans.

Golem Trust, The – Dolly Sisters. Run by Adora Belle Dearheart. Buys golems from their owners and then allows golems to buy their own freedom, at cost.

Guild of Merchants (and Traders) – Possibly fictitious location for possibly fictitious members (originally) created by Rerpf. Later became a valid establishment in Ankh-Morpork.

Guild of Thieves, Cutpurses, Housebreakers and Allied Trades – An organization, first encountered in Equal Rites, perhaps known later as simply the Guild of Thieves or Thieves’ Guild.

Hen and Chickens Court – Presumably near (or the same as?) Hen and Chickens Field. Moist von Lipwig had a trunk stored there with (I) Don’t Know Jack.

Hub Gate – An Ankh-Morporkian gate closest to the Hub; that is, the center of the Disc.

Hunghung – Capital city of the Agatean Empire.

Koom Valley – Location of an historic battle between dwarves and trolls.

Lancre – A small kingdom in the Ramtops. Home of Nanny Ogg and several other witches and wizards.

Little Theater – Where Dr. Hicks performed the role of Fartswell in ‘Tis Pity She’s an Instructor in Unarmed Combat.

Lobbin Clout – Hosts a street market on Octedays. Also known for its Pin Market.

Loko Region – Where you’ll find the Cave of Jars.

Losing Street – In Ankh-Morpork. Moist accidentally – and only briefly – met Pucci Lavish in a cab there.

Maul, The – A wide boulevard in Ankh-Morpork where you’ll find some of its largest shops.

Monkey Street – In the Shades. Don’t get lost there.

Morecombe, Slant, and Honeyplace – Prominent legal firm in Ankh-Morpork.

Mrs. Eucrasia Arcanum’s Lodging House for Respectable Working Men – Located in Mincing Street. Most notable resident: William de Worde.

Oblong Office – The main room of the Patrician in the Palace. Definitely not the same as the Oval Office.

Old Wizarding Tower – Landmark on the road from Ankh-Morpork to Sto Lat. Still seen but unused.

Patrician’s Palace – Ankh-Morpork. Theoretically the most important building in the city.

Pellicool Steps – One of the areas the dwarfs tunneled under looking for the cube.

Pigsty Hill – A street in the Shambles near the Cattle Market. A golem once caused it to be packed with cattle.

Pink PussyCat Club – Strip club in Ankh-Morpork where Tawneee, Broccolee, and Mrs. Spudding (age 75) have performed.

Pipeworth’s Bank – Rival of the Royal Bank. Has an HR department and does time-and-motion studies.

Post Office – On Broad Way, opposite the Patrician’s Palace, Ankh-Morpork.

Pseudopolis – A major city on the Disc. In The Colour of Magic, Death is headed there because of the white plague striking the city. Home of Eric.

Quirm – A city near Ankh-Morpork, not to be confused with Chirm. Probably.

Royal Art Museum – In Ankh-Morpork. Contains works by Caravati, Mauvaise, Cuspidor, Blitz, and many others.

Royal Bank – On Broad Way. Moist von Lipwig, with the prompting of Lord Vetinari, used the bank to bring Ankh-Morpork into the world of paper money.

Royal Mint – Handles (poorly) the money of Ankh-Morpork, until Moist von Lipwig comes along.

Sator Square – The area just outside Unseen University often occupied by many merchants.

Short Alley – Unlike Short Street, is actually short. Has one residence once occupied by Owlswick Jenkins.

Sto Lat – A small city in the Sto Plains, first mentioned in passing in Equal Rites. Home of King Olerve and Princess Keli.

Sto Plains – Area in which the cities of Sto Lat, Sto Helit, and Ankh-Morpork are located.

Tanty, The – Ankh-Morpork’s main prison.

Teemer and Spools – Best printer in Ankh-Morpork. Prints stamps for the Post Office and paper money for the Mint.

Tenth Egg Street – Street of small traders including Boffo’s and Pointer & Pickles. There’s a gang in the area, but I can’t think of its name.

Überwald – Home to many werewolf, vampires, Igors, and other races. Homeland of Angua and Cheery.

Um – Where golems (of gold) were first made. Golem horses too.

Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.

Unseen University Press – Precise location unknown – perhaps even to those who work there.

Vilinus Pass – May be the same as Wilinus Pass.

Welcome Soap – Arthur Crank wasn’t about to jump from a tall building in this street.
