Jingo Places – Alphabetic

Following is the alphabetical list of the places in Jingo. The chronological list is on this page.

Accountants’ Guild – The president is Mr Frostrip. They do some creative accounting.

Al Khali – Very dry home of Seriph Creosote and his Rhoxie.

Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.

Armorers’ Guild – The president is Mr Burleigh of Burleigh and Stronginthearm.

Assassins’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Assassins’ Guild in Ankh-Morpork. Best not to know its exact location.

Barbican – The assassin’s arrow that hit Prince Khufurah originated here.

Beggars’ Guild – Building in Ankh-Morpork where the Beggars’ Guild has its headquarters.

Betrek – Once conquered by Omnia.

Blue Cat Club – Located in the Shades. Run under supervision of the Seamstresses’ Guild. Mr Harris is the proprietor.

Brass Bridge – One of several bridges in Ankh-Morpork. Probably made mostly of brass or something that looks like it.

Brewer Street – Location of the Skunk Club.

Broad Way – One of Ankh-Morpork’s busiest streets. Intersects the Street of Small Gods.

Broken Drum / Mended Drum – A popular tavern (for fights, etc.) in Ankh-Morpork.

Bunch of Grapes – Easy Street. Establishment possibly frequented by Captain Vimes.

Burleigh and Stronginthearm’s – Crossbow makers to the nobility. That pretty much says it all.

Chalky’s Wholesale Pottery – Mentioned in Jingo. Seems to be confusion among this place, Chalkies (in Soul Music), Igneous’s the Troll’s Wholesale Pottery (in Guards! Guards! and Feet of Clay), and Chalky the Troll’s All-Night Pottery (in Men at Arms).

Chimeria – Land to which Rincewind considered fleeing so he could avoid the Patrician. Silly Rincewind!

Chitterling Street – Likely the same as Chittling Street. If so, it’s near the Shades and has a Watch House where Buggy Swires was stationed.

Chitterling Street Station – Likely the same as Chittling Street Station.

Circle Sea – The main body of water separating the continents of the Disc. Probably responsible for preventing more wars than have already been fought.

Dagon Street – Location of Mr Hong’s Three Jolly Luck Fish Bar.

Djelibeybi – Literally, “Child of the Djel”. Land of the pyramids. Home of Teppic and his ancestors.

El Kinte – On a peninsula of Klatch at the mouth of the Circle Sea.

El-Ysa – A (presumably Klatchian) village whose well had been poisoned by the man who was killed (an hour “too soon” per tradition) by 71-hour Ahmed. Now you know.

Elharib – In one of Copolymer’s stories, a girl lived there. Also, see Smale.

Elm Street – Ankh-Morpork. Has a mortuary.

Engravers’ and Printers’ Guild – In Ankh-Morpork. Some of the best members could engrave their name and address on a pinhead.

Ephebe – Located across the Djel (or Djelibeybi, if you prefer) from Tsort. Home of philosophers.

Eritor – In Klatch. Location of a concealed landing area which is two days’ forced march from the center of the Klatchian empire. (Relationship to Mount Eritor is unknown.)

Ettercap Street – Private Hobbley had lived there.

Gebra – A Fortified city in Klatch. Known as the Fist of Gebra. Located at the foot of Mount Gebra.

Genua – Main setting of Witches Abroad. Sounds like Genoa. Feels like New Orleans.

Gleam Street – Location of The Bucket pub.

Guild of Lawyers – Eh, why not? The president is Mr Slant.

Guild of Merchants (and Traders) – Possibly fictitious location for possibly fictitious members (originally) created by Rerpf. Later became a valid establishment in Ankh-Morpork.

Guild of Seamstresses – Ladies of negotiable affection.

Guild of Thieves, Cutpurses, Housebreakers and Allied Trades – An organization, first encountered in Equal Rites, perhaps known later as simply the Guild of Thieves or Thieves’ Guild.

Hersheba – One of two places the D’regs live – the other being nextdoor Klatch.

Historians’ Guild – Located at the corner of Easy Street and Treacle Mine Road. The president is Mr Betteridge.

Howondaland – A place of steaming forests where Hrun the Barbarian has done some of his best work.

Istanzia – Once conquered by Omnia. Known for its pottery.

Khanli – Also Khan’Li on some mapps. Literally nothing is known about it other than its location. (See a mapp.)

Kings Way / Kingsway – Street in Ankh where the d’Eath family lived.

Klatch – Land of deserts and some jungles. Also the source of the phrase, “Pardon my Klatchian.” The country of Klatch is on the continent of Klatch.

Klatchian’s Head, The – Tavern run by Big Anjie.

Klatchistan – Desert land on the continent of Klatch.

Leshp – An underwater island that rises to the surface from time to time. Nearly the cause of a war between Ankh-Morpork and Klatch. Home of the Curious Squid.

Market Street – Ankh-Morpork. In which Corporal Carrot acquired a pair of axtes.

Money Trap Lane – Location of Thimble’s, Sara the matchstick girl, and (formerly) Snowy Slopes.

Mount Gebra – Has flocks of goats that look like Conina’s hair.

Mundane Meals – Klatchian-style take-away in Scandal Alley, Ankh-Morpork. Run by the Goriff family.

Muntab, Theocracy of – It’s calendar counts down instead of up.

Opera House – Center of Ankh-Morpork. The (new) City Watch house sits opposite it in Pseudopolis Yard.

Park Lane – Where the Park Lane Knobbler was caught.

Pass of Al-Ibi – General Tacticus was outnumbered 10 to 1 when he took the Pass, according to Lord Rust. Possibly the same as Al-Ybi.

Peach Pie Street – Middle of three roads separating UU from the Palace.

Phedre Road – Has tanneries, brick kilns, and timber yards.

Plaza of Broken Moon(s) – Open area where Rincewind used Twoflower’s iconograph. Visited by Tomjon.

Plum Pudding Country – Baron Mimbledrone single-handedlybeat their armies, according to Lord Rust.

Pseudopolis – A major city on the Disc. In The Colour of Magic, Death is headed there because of the white plague striking the city. Home of Eric.

Pseudopolis Yard – Ankh-Morpork, not Pseudopolis. A circular street located at the city’s center. The Opera House and City Watch are on it.

Quirm – A city near Ankh-Morpork, not to be confused with Chirm. Probably.

Rhoxie – The palace of Seriph Creosote in Al Khali.

Rime Street – Cross street to Frost Alley. Cool place.

Sator Square – The area just outside Unseen University often occupied by many merchants.

Scandal Alley – Near The Maul. Location of Mundane Meals.

Shades, The – A section of Ankh-Morpork that is darker (in more ways than one) than it sounds.

Sheer Street – A fortune teller had his crystal ball stolen there.

Smale – Was at war with Elharib until 10 years ago. Wazir the bookseller hails from there. Thus his arguing with Goriff from Elharib.

Sto Lat – A small city in the Sto Plains, first mentioned in passing in Equal Rites. Home of King Olerve and Princess Keli.

Sto Plains – Area in which the cities of Sto Lat, Sto Helit, and Ankh-Morpork are located.

Street of Cunning Artificers, The – Ankh-Morpork. Contains just what you think. Only moreso.

Sumtri – An island where the pencil bush was discovered. Ruled by Queen Sowawondra and Queen Zazumba – at different times.

Tacticum – A now-ruined town in Klatch that had been built by General Tacticus.

Three Jolly Luck Take-Away Fish Bar – Built on the site of the old temple in Dagon Street on the night of the Winter Solstice which also featured a full moon. Yeah, that place.

Treacle Mine Road – Ankh-Morpork. Just off Elm Street.

Tsort – Location of the Valley of Tsort and thus the Great Pyramid of Tsort. Not to be confused with the Great Pyramid of Djelibeybi.

Überwald – Home to many werewolf, vampires, Igors, and other races. Homeland of Angua and Cheery.

Uhistan – Referenced in Jingo. May be the same as Ushistan. Home of the Mad Savatars.

Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.

Ur Kingdom – Apparently the land of Khuft who had The First pyramid constructed.

Ushistan – Once conquered by Omnia…for a little while.

Vortin’s Diamond Warehouse – Interesting items are found there. (Misspelled warehourse in Soul Music.)

Widdy Street – Location of Wazir’s bookshop.
