Contrary to what you might first think, Going Postal does not take places solely at the Post Office. Both this chronological list of places and this alphabetical list will prove that to you.
Pseudopolis – A major city on the Disc. In The Colour of Magic, Death is headed there because of the white plague striking the city. Home of Eric.
Sto Plains – Area in which the cities of Sto Lat, Sto Helit, and Ankh-Morpork are located.
Ankh-Morpork – The largest city on the Disc where much of the action in the Discworld series takes place. Ruled by the Patrician. Home of Unseen University.
Post Office – On Broad Way, opposite the Patrician’s Palace, Ankh-Morpork.
Hobson’s Livery Stable – Get your used horses here.
Hapley – Small town not too far from Ankh-Morpork. Moist von Lipwig made a couple of deals there once.
Genua – Main setting of Witches Abroad. Sounds like Genoa. Feels like New Orleans.
XXXX (Fourecks) – Fabled hidden continent, mate. Terror Incognita. EcksEcksEcksEcks.
Dimwell Street – In central Ankh. Has a sawmill.
Siblings of Offler Charity Home – Where Stanley Howler came from prior to being employed by the Post Office.
Dolly Sisters – Neighborhood now absorbed by Ankh-Morpork. Has a Watch House.
Shambles, The – Near the Cattle Market and Cockbill Street.
Lobbin Clout – Hosts a street market on Octedays. Also known for its Pin Market.
Guild of Merchants (and Traders) – Possibly fictitious location for possibly fictitious members (originally) created by Rerpf. Later became a valid establishment in Ankh-Morpork.
Dave’s Stamp and Pin Exchange – Dolly Sisters, between a house of negotiable affection and a massage parlor.
Überwald – Home to many werewolf, vampires, Igors, and other races. Homeland of Angua and Cheery.
A. Parker & Son’s – Greengrocer’s in Lobbin Clout. High Clas’s Fruit and Vegetable’s.
Market Street – Ankh-Morpork. In which Corporal Carrot acquired a pair of axtes.
Golem Trust, The – Dolly Sisters. Run by Adora Belle Dearheart. Buys golems from their owners and then allows golems to buy their own freedom, at cost.
Lipwig – Moist von Lipwig’s home town in Near Uberwald. Known for Lipwigzer guard dogs.
Tump, The – Small, steep hill at the hubward-by-turnwise edge of Ankh-Morpork. Location of Tump Tower.
Ankh-Sto Associates – Where Mr. Greenyham works.
Sto Plains Holdings – Where Mr. Nutmeg works.
Ankh-Morpork Mercantile Credit Bank – Where Crispin Horsefry works.
Ankh Futures (Financial Advisers) – Where Mr. Stowley works.
Barbican – The assassin’s arrow that hit Prince Khufurah originated here.
Assassins’ Guild – Headquarters for the members of the Assassins’ Guild in Ankh-Morpork. Best not to know its exact location.
Grand Trunk Company – Created by the Dearhearts. Taken over by Reacher Gilt for a time. Rescued by Moist von Lipwig. Controls the clacks messaging system.
Sto Lat – A small city in the Sto Plains, first mentioned in passing in Equal Rites. Home of King Olerve and Princess Keli.
Llamedos – Pllace from which Imp y Celyn hailed. (Nasty when read backwards.)
Hugos – Hairdressing salon near the Post Office in Ankh-Morpork. Borrowed some letters (attached to the outside of the building), but no apostrophes, from the P.O. once.
Cemetery of Small Gods – Behind the Temple of Small Gods in Ankh-Morpork. Maintained by Legitimate First. Interred (for now) include John Keel and other watchmen who perished in the Glorious Revolution. Reg Shoe is a former resident.
Happily Pinnery – Pinnery run by the Happily brothers.
Bonk – Properly pronounced Be-yonk. In Uberwald, home to Lady Margolotta, the werewolf clan of Baron Guye von Uberwald, the dwarf Low King, Captain Tantony, and the (nearby) Schmaltzberg fat mines. Not a major tourist attraction.
Lancre – A small kingdom in the Ramtops. Home of Nanny Ogg and several other witches and wizards.
Boult & Locke – Military and Ceremonial Outfitters in Peach Pie Street. Made the postmaster’s golden, winged hat.
Peach Pie Street – Middle of three roads separating UU from the Palace.
Unseen University – The home of the Disc’s wizards, a very magical place where magic is almost never used, and for good reason. Known as UU, for short. Sometimes misspelled, Unesene.
Goat and Spirit Level, The – Pub in Ankh-Morpork where Moist had left “Mr. Robinson’s box”.
Hen and Chickens Field – Between the Water Bridge and Bridge of Size. Formerly a place of public execution.
Teemer and Spools – Best printer in Ankh-Morpork. Prints stamps for the Post Office and paper money for the Mint.
Hide Park – Scene of the free concert given by The Band with Rocks In.
Tower of Art – The oldest and tallest building on the Disc. Part of Unseen University. Very magical. Not necessarily artful.
Thut – Ruled by King Het but slid under the sea 9000 years ago.
Upsa – The priests of the land created Anghammarad 19,000 years ago. Was destroyed by the explosion of Mount Shiputu.
Mount Shiputu – In Upsa. Its explosion led to its downfall.
Weaver Street – There was a “rumpus” there once that required the attention of the Watch.
Nap Hill – Ankh-Morpork center of textile, weaving, and clothing industries.
Klatch – Land of deserts and some jungles. Also the source of the phrase, “Pardon my Klatchian.” The country of Klatch is on the continent of Klatch.
Opera House – Center of Ankh-Morpork. The (new) City Watch house sits opposite it in Pseudopolis Yard.
Broad Way – One of Ankh-Morpork’s busiest streets. Intersects the Street of Small Gods.
Hub Gate – An Ankh-Morporkian gate closest to the Hub; that is, the center of the Disc.
Quirm – A city near Ankh-Morpork, not to be confused with Chirm. Probably.
Le Foie Heureux – Tr.: The Happy Liver. Moist managed to get a last-minute reservation there for Adora Belle and himself.
Broken Drum / Mended Drum – A popular tavern (for fights, etc.) in Ankh-Morpork.
Tanty, The – Ankh-Morpork’s main prison.
Lady Sibyl Free Hospital – Where Dr. Lawn works. Has the unusual reputation of aiming to get people well.
Cable Street – Ankh-Morpork. A dwarf runs a deli there.
Attic Bee Street – Near the Lady Sibyl Free Hospital. Location of Yo Rat!
Guild of Seamstresses – Ladies of negotiable affection.
Alchemists’ Guild – It’s around here somewhere, continually being rebuilt.
Guild of Thieves, Cutpurses, Housebreakers and Allied Trades – An organization, first encountered in Equal Rites, perhaps known later as simply the Guild of Thieves or Thieves’ Guild.
Pseudopolis Yard – Ankh-Morpork, not Pseudopolis. A circular street located at the city’s center. The Opera House and City Watch are on it.
Sator Square – The area just outside Unseen University often occupied by many merchants.
Royal Mint – Handles (poorly) the money of Ankh-Morpork, until Moist von Lipwig comes along.
